Bite Back X NCS: an eye-opening online experience

Prusha shares how the Bite Back X NCS Online Experience empowered her to take the next step in her campaigning journey.

Being a youth activist movement means we want to give ALL young people the chance to get stuck in with campaigning.
That’s why we launched the Bite Back X NCS Online Experience, where young people can get clued up on our food system, and unveil the truth about how junk food shows up everywhere in our day-to-day lives. The digital platform features videos, quotes, and stories from our Youth Board, putting the experiences of young people centre stage. Through quizzes and activities, we hope to take users on a journey, have their own penny-drop moments, and build confidence to share their experiences to drive change.
Prusha, one of our young activists, signed up for the experience. In this blog, she shares her reflections upon completing the experience, and how it has empowered her to continue forward on her activist journey.
Prusha's reflections on the Bite Back X NCS Online Experience
Taking part in the Bite Back x NCS Online Experience was honestly such an eye-opener. It’s not just a bunch of quizzes and videos, it actually makes you think about how much junk food advertising we’re surrounded by and how it affects us. I went into it thinking, “How bad can it be?” but some of the things I learned really surprised me. It’s crazy how much companies target young people and it made me realise how important it is to speak up about it.
What I liked most was how interactive the experience was. You’re not sitting there reading facts: you get to test what you know, learn new things, and the points system adds a bit of friendly competition. Plus, the content isn’t boring or overly complicated, which makes it so much easier to stay engaged. By the end, I felt like I actually understood how the food system works and how young people like us can make a difference. I plan to use the knowledge I gained to strengthen my work as a young activist, especially with Bite Back. Understanding the impact of food advertising on health will help me advocate for stronger policies in my local community.
If you’re thinking about doing it, I’d definitely recommend giving it a go. It doesn’t take long, you can win prizes (which is always a bonus), and you come away knowing things that actually matter. It’s a chance to be part of something bigger, you’re not just doing it for yourself, but to help push for change that affects everyone.
